Professional advice:
Wood has low thermal conductivity properties, so wall cladding forms specific internal heat insulation. If combined with a layer of mineral wool or Styrofoam, the wall with wooden cladding has also improved soundproofing propertie.
Stains and oil paints do not blank off pores in the wood, but the surface of wood is exposed to dirt and must be covered with a protective wax coating from time to time. Varnish stains and varnish form permanent coating on wood surface preventing it from being soiled and discoloured. They facilitate cleaning, which is often more significant than the natural look of wood if the wall cladding panels are used in the kitchen or corridor.
When installing wooden wall cladding and wood-like wall panels, a 10-15-mm expansion joint should be provided for in the point of contact between walls and ceiling and the adjacent walls to prevent deformation of panel surface such as bulging on rainy days when the humidity of air is higher.
Wall cladding requires accurate matching of carefully worked adjacent panels.
Wall cladding may be made of vertical, horizontal and diagonal elements arranged as to form patterns on the wall.
Wooden cladding is fastened to the wall by means of nails or screws.
To fasten wall panels special clamps should be used to eliminate the
need for driving or screwing metal connectors into the panels. Such
metal clamps are also more and more widely used for natural wall
cladding.
